Our Mission & Vision

Mission

At Cardiac Pro MD, our mission is unwavering: to improve global patient care and outcomes in cardiac medicine. By combining a rich legacy of medical innovation with cutting-edge interactive technologies and educational excellence, we set new standards in cardiac training and patient education.

We empower healthcare professionals and students worldwide with advanced, realistic simulations, intuitive clinical reference tools, and interactive patient-communication resources. Our goal is to equip practitioners with the knowledge and skills needed to deliver exceptional cardiac care, enhance patient compliance, and alleviate treatment-related anxiety.

Ultimately, we aim to elevate the standard of cardiac care and health outcomes for patients everywhere.

Vision

Cardiac Pro MD envisions a transformative future where immersive technology and medical expertise unite to advance cardiac education and patient care globally. Our platform spans mobile, desktop, web, and extended-reality (XR) devices—including virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR).

By leveraging interactive simulation technology, we enable clinicians, students, patients, and allied health professionals to explore cardiac anatomy, procedures, and pathology firsthand. Cardiac Pro MD bridges gaps in global medical education with realistic simulations that enhance learning, retention, and clinical proficiency.

Recent advances include standalone functionality on the Meta Quest 3 headset with hand-tracking for precise device interaction and room-scale navigation through cardiac structures. Our mobile app also serves as a quick, intuitive reference in clinical settings and a tool to educate patients, improving compliance and reducing uncertainty.

Looking ahead, we’ll optimize standalone XR performance via tethered PC connections for higher-resolution models and more detailed simulations. Our structured modules, refined with medical advisors, will expand global access, enhancing healthcare outcomes, patient education, and informed consent.

Ultimately, Cardiac Pro MD will be the leading global platform for cardiac medical education and procedural training, driving better patient outcomes worldwide.

Our History

Rooted in a legacy of pioneering innovation, Cardiac Pro MD leverages the groundbreaking history of the University of Minnesota’s Visible Heart® Laboratories (VHL). Founded and led by Professor Paul A. Iaizzo, PhD, the VHL is globally renowned for advancing cardiac medicine and surgical innovation.

Under visionaries like Dr. C. Walton Lillehei, the University of Minnesota achieved the world’s first successful open-heart surgery in 1952. Soon after, in collaboration with engineer Earl Bakken, the first portable, wearable pacemaker was developed—laying the foundation for Medtronic and transforming cardiac rhythm management.

Today, Dr. Iaizzo and his team continue to reanimate donated human hearts, refine medical devices, and expand training resources. His work in cardiac electrophysiology, physiology, and translational research has positioned the VHL at the forefront of cardiovascular discovery and education.

Cardiac Pro MD embodies this rich heritage, delivering decades of medical innovation directly to clinicians, students, and patients through immersive, interactive experiences.
